About Mushroom Tube:
Drew’s recent miraculous recovery and near-death-experience gave him a new perspective on the meaning of life and being at one with nature. This insight is reflected in his new artworks.
Drew says: "This painting is inspired by my new-found reverence for nature's plant medicine. Most of my life, I had no interest in doing plant medicine, not until after my near-death experience in November 2021.
In March of 2022, four months after my near death experience, I came home from a long hospital stay and had to learn how to walk and talk again.
In November of 2022, exactly one year after being put on the ventilator, I was still weak. But Maria and I decided to take a trip to Costa Rica. We were both shell shocked from the trauma of my hospital stay, and so we experienced a heavy plant medicine journey to help us. It was the first time for both of us. And it was profoundly healing.
During the experience, I was shown who I really was. Who we all really are. And where we came from. And where we will go back to. And that we are visitors here from another place, not the other way around.
My medicine journey had many similarities to my near death experience. And just like the near death, I came back with knowledge that I didn't have before. I don't think I'll ever be the same. I'm still trying to sort it all out, trying to figure out what to do with all of these experiences and the information that was given to me.
And while I figure that out, I'll just keep painting. Because that's what I know how to do.
